I used to go to school with this girl.

She was a beautiful writer. I never knew.

The Opposite of Loneliness

Why we care about whales

Also, OMGZZZ. Squirrel monkey riding a parakeet. I can die happy.

I’m usually ooked out by bugs, but look at the colors on this cucko wasp. Beautiful. (In person, this would actually scare the crap out of me I’m sure.)

Tavi Gevinson!
Today I tried to explain girlcrushes to a boy. He did not understand. It’s strange that girlcrushes work like that.
Also, I found a Tavi t-shirt (those Plough & Stars ones from way back when) in a give-and-go box at my school. I took it. Small world.

This is so striking and, somewhat surprisingly, beautiful. I bet it smells lovely, too.

I totally understand the need for the economic system to pump out an endless supply of deeply indebted and socially compliant units of human resource to feed the capitalist machine, but I’m concerned that this headline is a bit much.

It begs a simple question: Useless to whom?

Useless to whom, indeed. Who are these arbiters of our personal value in the grand social experiment? Where do they live? Give us their names and addresses, for they are the ones we should kill first.

The faceless overlords are getting a little sloppy with the propaganda. They should know better than to allude to themselves.

That’s how revolutions get started.

Everything Lush I Know by Kimberly Burwick

I do not know the names of things
but I have lived on figs and grapes
smell of dirt under moon
and moon under threat of rain
everything lush I know
an orchard becoming all orchards
flowers here and here
the earth I have left
every brief home-making
the lot of God blooming into vines
right now then and always
