Hyperbole and a Half is back! Her post about depression was really eye-opening and wonderful.

I haven’t even read The Great Gatsby, which I think makes me the worst recently completed English major ever, but this music is fucking phenomenal. They managed to do Jazz Age without Jazz. Truly mind-blowing.

Posting this as a reminder to myself to do this more!

“I want you to see me as a whole person. I go to school and I take classes and they take up a lot of time when I do them right. I like doing them right. Some are easy and make me feel smart, and some are hard and confusing and make me feel small. I study architecture because it is brown and orange and feels like old plush carpet against the pads of your bare foot. So does October. Architecture is best in October.”

I have always wanted to have synesthesia. Best part of this article: “I have sex sometimes and it’s silver and feels like the number 6.”

All kinds of tips and DIYs at The Secret Yumniverse: Wonder How to. I fucking love it.

This photo project, Exactitudes, is so cool. Photographer Ali Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek have documented members of different social groups they find on the street (more groups than you would think of) that share the same clothing style (like, often basically exactly) and photograph the people all in the same pose. For people expressing their originality through clothing, everyone looks surprisingly unoriginal. Plus, they give all the groups fun names! Check it out.

This might be the best thing I’ve read all year! (Besides, like, Kafka on the Shore and The Us and Sapho’s Gymnaseum.)

I guess I’m a little late to the game here, but Lindy West is no longer writing for The Stranger! She’s writing for Jezebel, which honestly sounds just about right for her. And while I already miss Concessions (which taught me that it was actually possible to LOVE reading movie reviews and, like, read them for pleasure rather than just for utilitarian purposes), I’m excited to see what she’ll do with a wide range of other topics at her disposal. Good luck, Lindy!
